This collection was inspired by the poem ‘Dadeni’ (Rebirth) by Mererid Hopwood.
Within the designs, the words of the poem have been hand etched onto the ribbons of sterling silver. The poem itself works on many different levels addressing the issue of rebirth. It provides the reader with a framework to be enlivened through individual interpretation and life’s experiences.
The jewellery illustrates the imagery created in the text but also gives the wearer a similar opportunity. In this case, ‘responsibility’ is introduced in a choice that is presented for further understanding and study since each piece is constructed without solder or fusing therefore the freedom of deconstruction is given even if it is only theoretical.
In addition the diamond centrepiece seeks to offer an expression of determination; persistence and resilience as the hardest and most beautiful of the precious stones.
Mae fy stori’n hen ddarllenydd, a gwir,
ei geiriau’n dragywyd,
’di bod o hyd – ond bob dydd,
yn fy neall wyf newydd…
My story, your history, one circle,
closing rings infinity,
you see – this is our story,
this is what binds you and me…
Can be made in silver, oxidised silver or silver with 23ct gold plating set with a diamond.
